Being an EHF Volunteer

Interested in sharing your time and talents, meeting new people, and fulfilling the Ephraim Historical Foundation’s mission? We offer a wide variety of ways for you to be involved. No prior experience is required in any of the categories, but if there are certain skills you would like to share please let us know in your application.

Our Volunteer Opportunities

  • Museum Building Steward

    Make a good first impression and help visitors navigate the different EHF Buildings. Museum attendants are responsible for daily museum operations, providing historical information about about the museum buildings, and fielding questions from visitors have about the Ephraim Historical Foundation. We prefer a weekly commitment during summer months. We will provide you with training.

  • Museum Building Docent

    Lead groups through a specific EHF building, provide public and/or spotlight tours, and answer questions about the specific EHF building, its history, and the artifacts in it. We prefer a weekly commitment during the summer months, but we are flexible. Training is provided along with the option to shadow more experienced docents.

  • History Tram Docent

    Use the EHF tram to lead groups on a tour of the history of Ephraim and an overview of Ephraim Historical Foundation and its historic buildings. Must have a valid driver’s license. Requires weekly commitment during summer months and training.

  • Roots of Our Village Docent

    Lead groups through a specific EHF building and answer questions about the specific EHF building, its history, and the artifacts in it. Currently the highlighted buildings are the Iverson House and Goodletson Cabin. Requires monthly commitment during summer months and training.

  • Program Volunteer

    Help plan, coordinate, set-up, and staff programs at specific museum buildings and off-site. Choose to be involved in adult or children’s programs. Programs include Schoolhouse Lessons, Child’s Play, and History Speaks. Works directly with our educator.

  • School Program Volunteer

    Help plan, coordinate, set-up, and staff school programs. Programs include teaching trunk programs in the school (winter) and the Gibraltar School 3rd grade field trip (late summer). Works directly with our educator.

  • Archives and Collections Volunteer

    Learn about history and artifacts while maintaining artifacts, researching items, and providing clerical support. Work directly with our curator. Opportunities are available year-round, and required training on certain tasks will be provided.

  • Special Event Volunteer

    Help plan, coordinate, set-up, and staff events both at specific museum buildings and off-site. Opportunities include serving refreshments and food, handing out materials, greeting visitors or members, and answering questions. Events include the Summer Social and exhibit receptions.

  • Administrative Support

    Help behind the scenes by providing support to one of our various departments. Could involve helping with bulk mailings, taking surveys, data entry, or creating and editing newsletters. Opportunities are available year-round.

  • Flowerbed Caretaker

    Plant, maintain, and harvest gardens around our historic buildings. There are annual flower beds and perennial beds. Requires commitment in May and October for planting and clean-up, and/or monthly commitment during summer months for routine maintenance.

  • Buildings and Grounds Maintenance

    Help us keep our museum buildings clean and well organized. Work behind the scenes on small maintenance projects such as yearly cleaning, fixing doors, or painting. Previous experience may be necessary for certain tasks.
