We Have Always Been Here: Opening Reception

Northern Door Pride and the Ephraim Historical Foundation are excited to announce the Foundation's Anderson Barn Museum will be hosting the Wisconsin Historical Society's travelling exhibit, We Will Always Be Here: Wisconsin's LGBTQ+ Historymakers in the month of June to celebrate Pride Month.

We Will Always Be Here explores the stories of Wisconsin's LGBTQ+ historymakers through profiles of eight individuals across a wide spectrum of identities who have helped to empower others and to make a positive change in the world.

We will be serving light refreshments and food, offering brief remarks, and celebrating the diversity which makes Door County the community it is. Learn more about this exhibit at wihist.org/LGBTQexhibit.

Makin’ Cake

Makin’ Cake

In “Makin’ Cake,” Dasha Kelly Hamilton slices into American history to explore race, culture, and class in a refreshing and fun way. “Makin’ Cake” is storytelling in layers, filled with aha moments, poignant vignettes, and digital media. A duo of onstage bakers support Kelly Hamilton, 2021 Wisconsin Poet Laureate and Milwaukee Artist of the Year, as she digs deep into the past and present. Part history lesson, part social science revelation, “Makin’ Cake” is a short story about America’s sweet tooth and pathway to salvation, leaving room for both dialogue and dessert with a cake reception immediately following the performance.

The EHF is a major sponsor of this special event, which will be attended by Gibraltar 9-12 students. Purchase tickets by phoning 920-868-2728 or visit dcauditorium.org. Senior ticket discount available. Ask about the 1:00 PM Friday matinee show too, which will be attended by Gibraltar 9-12 students.
